What is my goal?

There are so many voices telling me what my goals should be!

Lose weight, take more steps, add more friends, gain more likes, listen to new tracks, subscribe to more podcasts, keep up with the news, meditate more, improve my sleep routines, drink more water, drink less alcohol, keep up with fashion, downsize, simplify, don’t stop scrolling, sign up for this, travel the world, it’s exhausting!

Many of these voices have a common theme: you need to change.

Or, to put it more bluntly, you are not acceptable as you are.

I want to push back on that premise robustly.

Your goal should not be to change yourself but to understand yourself.

Know yourself.

Be a student of you: how are you wired, what do you have to offer, who do you impact (and in what ways)?

“Our goal is not to change ourselves. It’s to KNOW ourselves so we can control ourselves and give ourselves appropriately.” Fred Kendall, founder of the Life Languages™

Nobody else can be you.

Only you can truly understand you.

But you need help.

Blindspots are pervasive and elusive. We need one another to help us cultivate self-awareness.

I have a clear starting point to relate with others when I recognize myself. They are different, so I build the capacity to adapt and connect.

My goal is not changing; it’s adapting. That’s why I need to know myself first and become a student of others second, so together we can contradict the voices that say we’re not acceptable as we are.

Will you join me?
