Results through relationships

A recent quote struck me from one of my inspirations, Dan Rockwell of Leadership Freak. Dan wrote, “It’s not results OR relationships. It’s not results AND relationships. It’s results through relationships.”

He’s right!

Too many people think relationships hinder results. They make the fatal mistake of using people to get things done.

Another large group makes an equal, yet opposite, mistake, trying to balance results and relationships as if they are competing.

As Dan rightly stated, the truth is that today’s world only produces lasting results through relationships.

And therein lies the challenge because we lack the tools to develop relationships that yield results.

When colleagues are misunderstood or unpredictable, relationships suffer. If we adopt a “one size fits all” mentality in our interactions with others, we don’t demonstrate character; we become a character!

It’s too easy to be held back by relational challenges or disconnects. Results diminish in these settings.

Whether those results are sales, productivity, workplace climate, customer service, or simply harmony with family and friends, we can’t afford to accept diminished relationships.

Therefore, I have focused my coaching on communication because communication is the oxygen of relationships – at work, home, and among friends.

I can help you learn the science of communication: the words and actions you prefer, the ones that distress you, and the ones that those around you favor. When we get those keys right, communication blossoms, as we can achieve results through relationships.

What are you waiting for?
